Evelyn Grant and the Cork Pops Orchestra are looking forward to their outdoor lunchtime concert at Experience Fest Cork Summer Show in Cork on Saturday June 14th at 1pm, at the Curraheen village.
They will perform a programme of popular music, ranging classics to big band numbers, rock and roll and a few pops tunes. They will be joined by vocalist Bernard Curtin and they are anticipating some fine dancing and singing from the audience!
Evelyn Grant and the Cork Pops Orchestra are no strangers to a bit of ‘craic’ and they have established themselves with all ages, families, schools and community groups throughout Munster through their concerts, tea dances, and outdoor gigs. Their inaugral outdoor ‘Prom’ concert was to and audience of 50,000 people on the final night of the ‘Tall Ships’ visit to Cork. Highlights of the orchestra’s career include 16 Lord Mayor’s concerts, Cork 2005 European Cultural Capital performances with Sir James Galway and many more. The orchestra was seen by 62 million viewers in the US in a PBS special featuring Tommy Flemming.
So bring along your dancing shoes and join in the fun a what should be a great afternoon and evening of music. The Cork Pops Orchestra will be followed by Pulses of Tradition, Something Happens and the evening will conclude with a performance by Jack L.
Experience Fest Cork Summer Show is a celebration of the best of Irish food, music and agriculture, taking place from June 13th-15th at Curraheen Village, Cork. Hosted by the Munster Agricultural Society, Experience Fest Cork Summer Show is an evolution of the Cork Summer Show which began in 1826 and is one of Ireland’s oldest agricultural shows.
While the popular programme for the Cork Summer Show will remain, the event is being added to, as Cork Food Fest and Cork Music Fest combine three shows into one to create Experience Fest Cork Summer Show, with a terrific line-up over three days.
According to Peter Kelly of Franc, Creative Director: “I am delighted to be working with Experience Fest, that brings the Cork Summer Show up to a new level, with many exciting features over the 100 acre site as food and music are celebrated as well as many traditional crafts and practices.”
The Cork Music Fest has a fantastic line-up, as renowned musicians Hermitage Green, Paddy Casey, Jack L, Ham Sandwich, The Cork Pops Orchestra, Frances Black & Mary Coughlan, the 4 of Us, the Fureys, Something Happens and many more, will all perform throughout the weekend.
Cork Food Fest is a unique celebration of Irish food. Over 110 artisan producers will showcase their gourmet produce, celebrity chefs will share insider knowledge and give demos and valuable cooking tips while local restaurants will create and serve delicious tasting menus based on the best of Irish produce. There will be a special Beer Village serving delicious Irish craft beers and ciders.
Cork Summer Show, one of the oldest agricultural shows in Ireland will feature over 1000 animals and there will be showing classes for horses, cattle, sheep, goats and poultry, together with a display of rare breeds, pony club games, carriage driving and an international farrier competition and the much loved Pet Dog Show.
Visitors may enjoy a host of events such as sheep shearing, woodcutting, show-jumping and vintage tractor displays. Kick back with a craft beer, watch a thatcher in action, browse the food market while listening to live music on the main stage.
