The Cork Pops Orchestra, Ireland’s only community orchestra, provides an educational and entertainment service to the public and private sector. Current projects include Strauss Balls, Dinner Dances, Concerts for Schools and Tea Dances for the ‘Young at Heart’. We also provide string quartets for weddings and corporate functions. Evelyn Grant - Conductor

EVELYN GRANT has a busy career as a performer, lecturer and broadcaster. She has, for many years, been involved in a huge range of exciting outreach projects and was the first person in Ireland to receive a Master's Degree in Community Music (from the University of York). She was subsequently awarded a Ph.D. for her research on 'Social Inclusion in Music Education' from UCC.
She was involved in developing access programmes - 'Exploring Education through the Arts' - for Cork Institute of Technology at the new Cork School of Music. In 2007, Evelyn researched and presented a 6-part documentary series for RTE Lyricfm entitled 'Passions and Policies - Music Education in Ireland.' As founder of Cork Music Works, which provides music tuition and performance opportunities for people with learning disability, Evelyn was named as an awardee of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland.
A former chair of the Forum for Music in Ireland, Evelyn has worked on major European youth arts projects and hosted several conferences for YOUC.A.N. – a cross-border youth arts network; she has acted as consultant to Dublin City Council; Wexford County Council; West Cork Music and Music Network.
